# 2. Game Overview

2.1 Monsnatch is a two-player tabletop card game played on a shared 4 × 4 Arena.

2.2 Each player begins with a ten-card deck in their Hand. Players alternate turns and normally Summon one Momon each turn.

2.3 When a game ends under [Section 7.1](/comprehensive-rules-1.0.0/game-flow/07-game-end-and-concession.md), [Section 7.2](/comprehensive-rules-1.0.0/game-flow/07-game-end-and-concession.md), or an external tournament procedure that instructs players to determine a winner by Control Count, the player with the greater Control Count wins. A player’s Control Count is the number of Momon on the Arena that player controls.

2.4 If those Control Counts are equal, the player holding the First Player Token wins.

2.5 A game that ends under [Section 12.4](/comprehensive-rules-1.0.0/abilities-and-game-state/12-state-based-conditions-illegal-actions-and-loops.md) is a Game Draw. [Sections 2.3](/comprehensive-rules-1.0.0/foundations/02-game-overview.md) and [2.4](/comprehensive-rules-1.0.0/foundations/02-game-overview.md) do not determine a winner unless the applicable tournament procedure explicitly converts that Game Draw into a Game Win. An external tournament procedure may explicitly create another Game Draw.
